January 29The Storm releases their second album, Eye Of The Storm, which includes Gregg Rolie and Ross Valory (Steve Smith left the band). Sadly the CD is only available in Europe, but available in North America as an import.
April 16Vital Information releases their seventh album, Ray Of Hope
April 18Steve Perry announces that Journey in is in the process of finishing writing new songs

May 1(?)Journey enters the recording studio (Skywalker Sound Studios in San Francisco with producer Kevin Shirley) to lay down tracks for the new album
May 18Steve Perry announces that the new album my be kept 'on the shelf.' They plan to tour first, then during the concerts they will play some of the new material. (Although they eventually decided to release the album)

OctoberAnnouncement is made by the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame that the original members of Santana (including Gregg Rolie) will be inducted into the RnR Hall of Fame in January 98. Sadly, since Neal Schon did not join the band until the forth album he will not be honored.
